There is less space now to dump or hide e-waste in Ontario. Canadians are becoming more aware of the toxic nature of computer equipment and electronics. There has been changes in legislation both here in Ontario and in the State of Michigan, which prohibits were garbage and be shipped or thrown away. Canadians threw out almost 375 million pounds of electronic waste in 2005, and only 25 percent of that was in a recycled fashion. Currently in Ontario landfill sites are quickly coming to the end of their lifespan.
