Irish Superstars U2 have been recording an old punk rock cover for charity in London’s famous Abbey Road studio, and while in there, they decided to head outside and recreate the famous Beatles album cover, ‘Abbey Road’.

The two bands joined forces with legendary rock photographer Anton Corbijn (Metallica, U2, Depeche Mode) in what promises to be an interesting clash of generations and art forms.

Other artists to have recreated the album cover include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Booker T and the MGs, Paul McCartney (who later revisited the cover for the album Paul Is Live – itself a mockery of the “Paul Is Dead” rumours), film director Peter Jackson, cartoon stars Ren and Stimpy and The Simpsons and me, while on holiday in London.
